Ingredients
Directions
In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and salt.
Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture. Stir the dough until it starts to come together. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle in a little more flour.
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Punch down the risen dough and turn it onto a floured surface. Shape it into a loaf and tuck the ends underneath. Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and place the shaped dough into the pan.
Cover the pan with a damp cloth and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes until it rises slightly above the edge of the pan. Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
